Look of trust

Does a good impression really matter in business? I say YES. I remember my friend Jun, who is a very successful Network Marketer telling me about how he chooses a Financial Manager. He needed one because he didn’t know about investing, he was splurging on buying Mercedes Benz’s, and a Ferrari and was advised to re-evaluate his spending and get a Financial Advisor, if he wants to grow his earnings.

Then he goes hunting, he calls several Financial Firms and asks to be visited and sent some papers to go thru. As the each one arrives, he looks from his window to check some things out on the person sent, like:

  1. What car they’re driving, is it clean, is it well kept? Jun thinks, if this guy is really good, he should be at least driving a nice car as a result of handling other people’s money successfully. And his car should be neat and clean showing he is an organized person.

  1. What he does as he leaves the car? Does he start looking at a pile of paper and look and organize his bag on the spot? Or does he alight and get his portfolio knowing he has prepared all his documents? Jun thinks that if the person is organized, then he is a good candidate to trust with his hard earned money.

  1. What he wears? Is he neat and proper, looking good and confident? Jun observes how the person carries himself or herself, because true enough he is going to put in serious money and selecting the right person is crucial. This goes to show that first impression is really lasting, and can make or break a sale. It is important to invest in a good suit, a nice scent, a good haircut that looks professional and tidy. If you are bald, you may consider getting a hair restoration if that would boost your confidence.

  1. How he speaks and what he says. Of course, more than the look and all, it still boils down to being able to convey in clear terms what your proposition is and be equipped to explain and handle queries.

Each one has his own way, but Jun has some good reasons having the above as considerations in qualifying who to do business with.  Do you have the right look and feel to close new deals today?

Business Legacy

A lot of businesses fold up after many years of building it successfully after the one who built it retires and the next generation aren’t prepared to take over.      Worse is if not one of the children wants to take over.  That’s why it is imperative for Business Leaders to train their children who are showing inclination to business and prepare them to handle it. Like what Mr. John Gokongwei did to his son Lance, who is now bringing their business to greater heights. And the father of George Lindemann, Jr. to him who went on to grow their family business bringing him to be among the Top 400 Richest man according to Forbes.  Same with Ayala Clan, who owns most of Makati, the Parents made sure that each in the next generation is trained in the best schools to prepare them for new challenges and expand their business.
I personally saw a business sold when none of the kids took the business path.  I first met Mr. Lauro Magnaye or Lolo Mag as we call him when I was still very small in New Manila, Q.C. He was the inventor of Motolite Battery which is now owned by Ramcar.  Motolite is the one with the slogan “Subok na Matibay, Subok na Matatag.” All of his children migrated to the United States and started a life their, which is also good, because they’re all doing good their, however, with respect to the Motolite business, not one was prepared to go on with it, and so was eventually sold, and so with a lot of real estate assets.

KFC New Look

KFC New Look,
originally uploaded by arellevalla.com.

People are becoming visual more than ever. Why do I say that? Because I notice the sprouting of Cosmetic Establishments offering aesthetic enhancement services. Gone are the days when Cosmetic Surgeons and Medical Doctors are holding offices only in hospitals, they’re now also in the malls for convenience purposes.

Even fastfood chains are changing the way they look, just see for example the photo below, would you think that this is KFC? Yeah, this is Kentucky Fried Chicken in The Block, SM City North Edsa.

People want what is pleasing to the eyes.
