Sometime in 2004 or 2005, together with a Korean group, we conceptualized a business which we incorporated as Shop and Gain Global, Inc. We wanted to introduce the concept of Point Marketing, a consumer friendly system where each product one buys from our Shop and Gain store will earn him points, but not too little points that you can just exchange for some small item, rather points to exchange for cash, like a rebate.
We actually opened one store in a Mall. It was a real convenience store, with all the set up like the Signages outside, Glass enclosed store, products decks, Dymo labels on products and receipts, etc. But one of the partners screwed up and the store had to be closed. I believe the point marketing system has its merits, given the right timing, people and resources.
