5 Things you will learn from the movie Blind Side (Sandra Bullock)

I caught this movie Blind Side starring Sandra Bullock (2009) just started showing on HBO few days ago and it kept me going! Today, I saw the interview among the stars and the real Family portrayed in the Film.

It was about a Christian Family who helped Michael Oher become part of a loving family and helped him bring out his potentials to become a Superstar Athlete!

Some qualities you will see

1.  Michael’s humble demeanor earned him trust .  Mike was very real about who he was in the way he expressed himself and was humble enough to admit he has a need. Well, it’s innate for us to be a prideful, so when he was asked how he was initially, he said he was fine, even he wasn’t. After being asked twice, sincerely, he admitted he could use some help.

2.  Getting to know who the family will keep trusting and helping matters. When you trust someone to be close to you, it helps to know as much as you can about the person. Yes, for things you may need to be concerned of, but more especially for finding out the things where you can be of more help.

3. Communication is primary to building a relationship…Being open, honest and trusting will paved the way to a brighter and more pleasant future together.

4. A Family that prays together, stays together. The film showed how they were grateful for God’s provision and blessings! If I got it right, they own a number of restaurants.

The word of God says, God delights in the prosperity of His children. If you are rich, God surely have a reason why He allowed to give you a lot, besides, it is He who gives the ability to produce wealth. If you are not rich, you can be, the word says He can do exceedingly above all we can ever ask or imagine.

5. Love is giving time. The family was rich but their daily life showed them spending quality time despite their busy schedule. They went to games together, ate together, travelled a lot together. This movie is a must see for everyone in the family.

One thing I know, helping truly never goes out of style!

It was a great movie, I highly recommend it! If there was any downside to watching Blind Side when I was me missing my Friday Night bible study group because the wall clock I see in front of me by the tv was late… It showed 630pm, but it was actually 8PM :-( . Time to change the clock battery!

You can order a the Blind Side DVD here.

If you want to be part of the loving family of God, you are welcome! It doesn’t matter what your past is, what you have done, rich or poor, what ever the color of your skin. You can be part of God’s family and enjoy the benefits of having the God who created the heavens and the earth as your Father, Jesus as not only as your Lord and Saviour but also your friend.

Mano Po 6

I watched Mano Po 6 with my Mom and sister at Trinoma Mall few days ago. It’s a great movie, you wont even notice the time pass because the phasing of events is really fast and you wouldn’t want to miss a part.

It is played by Megastar Sharon Cuneta, who won best actress for it. It’s a story of a Mother from a Chinese family, however being half chinese, who married a full blooded chinese (stared by Christopher De Leon) created friction in the family, as if it ‘s bad luck especially for business.

Unfortunately, because of some failed ventures their children had to be brought to Christopher’s Parents for temporary shelter, where they were well taken cared of but told that their mother is a bad person and they should just stay, the kids believed this. Sharon was eventually left to do things by herself and was able to get only one daughter (Ciara Sotto). The 3 other kids (Heart being the eldest), had to be watched by Sharon from afar.

A breakthrough came to Sharon when an insurance claim allowed her to start and grow a business, and this is what she used as a platform to gain back her children. A lot of other interesting twist and turn of events happened in the story, some you won’t expect to happen.

One thing is very evident, a mother’s love will always be a driving force for a family to be together. Her sacrifice and love is unwavering. Just like my mom who would do anything for our good and welfare, sometimes we don’t recognize it as a good thing because we want our own way as children but no matter what we think, our parents just want the best for us.

Good investing is one good thing parents can do such as getting insurance coverage, it can save one’s future or a family’s future. North Carolina health insurance is one good investment, or check with a reputable and insurance provider what best option you can venture in for a more secure future.

Mano po 6 is a must see movie for the entire family.

The Climb starring Jason George and Ned Vaughn

When I got out of church yesterday, i saw a DVD showing two guys climbing at mountain caught my eye and so i bought it for Doug, just taking the chance that he might not have watched it yet, but he had lol…If he hasn’t I wanted to wait for him to arrive next month and we’ll watch it together, like we watched Fireproof together, so since he’d seen it, I watched it already lol, with my Mom, sister Ming and housemate Tess.

It’s a story of two mountain climbers (played by Jason and Ned) who saved another climber Josh who got into an accident that could have costed him his life. Josh’s Father happened to be very wealthy and wanted to thank the heroes who saved his son by helping them make their dream of climbing a Mountrain in Chile come true. And there the moving story of team work, sacrifice and life changing experiences took place.

Ned believed in God and shared his faith with Jason who doesn’t care much about faith or anything less than his passion for climbing. The challenges they encountered tested their personal capacities and realized it takes more than just the will to make it.

It’s a movie every mountain climber or sports man should watch, however, it’s really a movie for all to appreciate. Try to get a copy of this DVD and be touched by a heartwarming story of a man going after dreams, a man of integrity that shapes ones future and a God who has our best interest in mind.

5 Things  learned from the movie, The Climb?
1. Passion brings success.

When we are passionate about what we are doing, to the point that we are willing to do it even if we don’t get paid, we become excellent in it and we will serve before Kings. Meaning we will gain favor when we do things the best way we can with commitment and dedication.

Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men.
Proverbs 22:29

2. Integrity is prime..

Ned said “my integrity is not for sale”, I believe in this very strongly myself. To be truthful and honest in our dealings no matter what it takes. We are do serve with all honesty at all times.
In my walk as a Christian I had my own share of putting myself in compromising situations, but thank God for his grace and forgiveness when we ask for it, and we can get back on our feet and take the high road.

Proverbs 3:3-4
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.

3. Take Responsibility
Family is the most important institution on earth and so our significant other and family members are to be our priority and making every effort to build a strong relationship will give us the most fulfillment.
There is an emptiness in our hearts that only God can fill, no amount of success can do.

Proverbs 13:10
Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.
We can’t be all knowing, we need wisdom to make decisions specially the toughest ones.

4. Dream Big

We have to fill our thoughts of what we want and believe God for it.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

5. Train and be ready to achieve your Dream

We can view some parts of life like a serious game that needs to be won for us to have significant results and achieve a certain level of success that gives us rewards. That only happens when we win. I believe in the saying that success comes to those who are prepared. And preparation and training must be holistic, body, mind, soul and spirit.

1 Corinthians 9:25

Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

I hope you can grab a copy of this film and watch it. I got the DVD from Victory Christian Fellowship bookstore at UP Diliman – Film Center.
