I posted  how a Dengue mosquito look like last year to help create awareness. Well, it’s a season for this again and it’s affecting not only the Philippines. On a recent trip to Singapore, I was reading the papers while enjoying a coffee at Starbucks at a mall in Clarke Quay, an article says there is also an increase of incidence there considering how clean Singapore is know for.

It’s time to make a surroundings check inside and outside the house. Clean up areas that are especially in the dark where these culprits love staying at, and clear up anything that may be a breeding ground for mosquitos such as tires, unused water bottles with no cap/drums and just about anything that holds water even it’s  just half a centimeter deep.

Turn something like this coconut around (see a lot of larva on it? and on the middle one is turning into a full mosquito)…You DON’T want that to happen in your yard.

Any water deposits in low areas like this must be filled. If you live in the provinces and have a farm, you may have areas like this. Dengue can cause serious illnesses and possibly death, it’s not a joke. Do something about it.

If you suspect someone may have dengue, immediately take them to the hospital before it’s too late, there is a kind of dengue that Hemorrhagic , meaning it causes internal bleeding. It’s important to be well hydrated, drink plenty of fluids and electrolytes (like gatorade) for temporary relief and precaution, but seek medical attention immediately especially if one is experiencing high fever.
