Gold in Singapore, Gold in the Philippines, Gold in America

We watched the last full show of Conan last night at the Trinoma mall after eating at Kamay Kainan for my Mom’s birthday dinner celebration. Since it started at 10:25pm which is like my sleeping time, I fell asleep a lot in the recliner lol…but I believe I saw most of the action scenes.

Anyway, before the movie started, one of the trailers was Deep Gold, a movie shot in the Philippines about Gold on board a ship that sank in the Philippines seas from one of the galleons of long time ago that probably looks like this.

While in Singapore, I saw this newspaper ad selling gold then in my emails I frequently get information on how gold prices are appreciating and it is a good investment, 10 Reasons to own gold and all that. What’s the fuzz about gold investing?  News has it that apparently the paper money economy is going to crash and we will go back to trading or buying and selling with precious metals.  Gold pricing has skyrocketed the last few years. It is now at USD 1,851/ounce  (Php 77,742 per ounce @ P42=USD1) (1 ounce -28.35 grams), since we use grams in the Philippines, that’ about P 2,742 per gram ( USD 65.3/gram). Any piece of gold jewelry truly is a treasure now.

So it seems that this is one of the best investments one can make, like saving up to invest in some rings, bracelets and stuff because maybe one day, businesses would prefer precious metal as a form of payment for food than paper money.

On the other hand, the ultra rich like Billionaire George Soros is investing more on farming than buying gold, instead he is selling to grow food. Why? Because food prices skyrocket faster than gold!

So should you buy gold or buy food? Well, to be safe, maybe have both :-)

There are different kinds of life insurance that you can invest in. You have to know as much as you can about these products then carefully select which one best suits your financial planning and investment needs. This could be a Term Life Insurance (offers coverage for a certain period of time), Whole life insurance (pays benefit upon death), Special Life Insurance (variable life insurance), Special Purpose Life Insurance (for handing mortgage issues and credit) and many other kinds. What ever you choose, invest in a company that will be around when it’s time for you to make a claim. Choose a very stable financial institution, it also pays having the right agent who will be dependable in assisting you in a timely manner.
