Highlands Steakhouse in Mall of Asia

Tagaytay Highlands Steakhouse is definitely my favorite restaurant, not that I can afford keep coming here but on occassion with my husband, and sometimes we bring family. We just love the food!  Steaks are just great, they have buffet’s where you can keep coming back for more awesome steaks of course, I think it’s up to 2PM from lunch time.  When my husband is in the mood, he wood cook the steak to perfection himself, we just have to cut the meat though the cooking grill is so tiny lol.

The resto’s interior is great too, like a log cabin!

Was there last Thursday shortly after lunch, we missed buffet :-( , had Prawns for appetizers and Jack Daniels Rib-Eye if im not mistaken, after a while we noticed that the resto was almost empty as if we were the exclusive diners until we heard a man’s voice clearing his throat. On the next table was a man in a wheelchair, with a woman on each of his side that seems to be assisting him with the meal and in front is a lady who I saw come in and out of the kitchen so maybe the owner or the steakhouse of manager. We’re seated by the window our usual spot when it’s just me and my hubby dining, and I had to use the CR so I stood up and passed the area where the gentleman was seating and as I glanced I noticed that it’s Mr. Henry Sy, Sr. if I am not mistaken, but I believe it was him. He is the man behind the SM Group of Companies, one of which is the very impressive SM Development Corp  building SM Residences all over the metro close to all the SM Malls, a new one will launch soon, called Shell Residences right at the Mall of Asia Complex

I told my husband my I got back to our table who the man was and he asked me, “Is it possible to come speak to him?” I replied saying I’m not sure, I saw some bodyguards by the door lol. I asked why he wanted to speak to him, my hubby said, “Well, I wonder if he knows Jesus Christ and if he is saved?” I really admire my husbands heart to share Jesus.  I said, you wanna try to ask if we can talk? he then sort of hesitated and said “yeah, but I don’t want his bodyguards to jump me”. Well, to cut the story short, we didn’t have the guts to even come close.  Now, I wonder what If we came to him and asked, and Mr. Sy let us have even just a few minutes of his time and fellowshipped with him? Would have been awesome,  it’s a once in a lifetime thing for an ordinary person like us to be even in the same resto as him. “Sir, Mr. Henry Sy, Sr, I know you are already blessed financially, I also pray that you be blessed spiritually, the only way to enjoy life in eternity is thru the Lord Jesus Christ, I invite you to get to know him in a very personal way. If you already know him, that’s wonderful, I pray that you be of good health and remain strong and vibrant. God bless you”.

Btw, the Steakhouse is located at the Mall of Asia, and is run by Tagaytay Highlands (the golf and country club and vacation residences in Tagaytay), all owned by Mr. Henry Sy’s companies.

Like I said this place is a favorite, we spent wonderful dinner dates here, even my hand was asked in marriage at this very steakhouse. I highly recommend it!

Shangri-la, our favorite hotel in Manila

Edsa Shangri-la Hotel

I would like to commend Shangri-la’s responsiveness to client needs. We have traveled a little bit around the Philippines and stayed at a number of resorts and hotels both five star and backpackers resort and so far only Shangri-la (among it’s class) has been the most satisfactory. The photo above is actually an upgrade from an already very nice room, which incidentally was located at the side where the Shangri-la Malls are having their night band playing. And because of the band, we could not sleep well because we could hear the music in the room (we were at the 9th floor if im not mistaken). We informed the manager of our issue and they moved us with an upgrade to another wing the following day.

And yesterday, I got a message from it’s General Manager Reto Klauser on Facebook thanking us for staying with them.

We love staying at Shangri-la that my fiance and I decided to exchange our vows there in a simple yet very meaningful ceremony.
