Singapore mode of public transportation is pretty much very good, you have a variety of options such as the MTR, the bus and the cab, we tried all…Rent a car is of course available.

As usual, we started by taking a cab as first time tourists mostly do! And there are two kind of cabs there, one that is the usual cab, and the luxury cab, which are Mercedez Benz’s. If im not mistaken rate starts a little over $1 then adds something like half a dollar per certain distance. Costed us about $12 from Orchard Road to Sentosa.

Can’t afford to buy a Benz? for a few dollars, enjoy a Benz ride with a chaffeur in Singapore hehe…

But being first timers didn’t stop me and my friend Julie from trying the bus.  When we got in, we sort of observed first, and noticed that people brought out cards or their wallets(with the card in it) and just put it near a sensor..and we go…o ohhh, we don’t have that hahaha…

Then a student got up and put some coins in a vendo within the bus and a ticket came out, again we go, we don’t have that either…we approached the bus driver and said, “do you accept cash? we want to go to Bugis” ( a place where we could buy some shirts and reg magnets hehe), then he replied, “Yes” to our relief, he mentioned how much and we paid it, it was a couple of  dollars i think.  Apparently, paying cash and via the electronic card thingie costs differently, cheaper with the card.

(this is the usual bus in Singapore, 2 levels, and normally arrives on sched too)

The other is the MTR, can’t find my c.d where i stored the pics :(

Here is video of a bus ride at night…

Where to buy Pinoy/Filipino or Philippine Products in Singapore? Go to Lucky Plaza, along Orchard Road.

1057560673_557042d73c.jpg

Best to come is between Monday to Friday because there are less people, and it’s easier to move around. You are most welcome to come on weekends too, just brace yourself because it’s really jamped pack with Pinoys who are on their day off, you might think you are in Divisoria Philippines, than in Orchard, Singapore.

At Lucky Plaza, you will find almost all kinds of pinoy stuff from Sinigang Mix, Dried Mangoes, to Tuyo, or even Philippine made colognes. You can expect the price to be higher of course, maybe a few times higher for the freight cost. Just to give you an idea, turon (fried banana wrapped in lumpia wrapper) cost about $1.00, that’s more or less P30.

You will also find a lot of remittance centers, where most pinoys would go to send their loved ones money every pay day. And plenty of souvenir shops where you can buy T-Shirts, keychains and the like for take home gifts.

Lucky Plaza is basically a pinoy mall, with a lot of lutong pinoy restaurants. I really liked Jologs, the TAPSILOG is great, costs about $6.50 (Sing$1=P30), so that’s about P 190.00 per order. Sorry, i already started eating before i remembered taking a pic, was just too hungry lol…

However, Lucky Plaza doesn’t just offer Pinoy Products of course, you can also buy a lot of other known brands like Giordano, Hang Ten, Rolex and plenty of Gadget Stores too.
