Dengue mosquito-how they look like and where they breed

No Gravatar

We were watching news last night and Ilo-Ilo is declared under the state of calamity for having more than 1,600 cases of dengue. And 10 baranggays in Quezon City may have an outbreak, as such we decided to immediately have our house sprayed insecticide this morning. To get away with inhaling the fumes, we went to the mall to pass the time and look for Eucalyptus and Citronella, but it is out of stock.

When we got home, the fume inside the house is still very strong and so we’re hanging around our table by the garage. Shortly after 30 minutes or so, a couple of guys who turned out to be our garbage service men soliciting money because one of their guys died yesterday from guess what? Dengue. He said, he just had fever and passed away. Dengue  is a very serious threat to the community. Try to know as much as you can about the characteristics of this mosquito and where they breed, especially be aware of Dengue symptoms.

Dengue fever is usually characterized by a sudden a high fever,  rash called petechiae on the skin (reddish of violet spots), may experience severe headache, some pain behind the eyes, also muscle and joint pain. If you are exhibiting this symptoms, immediately go to the doctor. Late diagnosis may be at risk of death as Dengue can be hemorrhagic, meaning it can cause bleeding that will require blood transfusion.

Dengue carrying mosquito (Aedes Aegypti) move very fast and likes biting on the feet and ankle. So try to wear protective clothing like pajamas and socks if you will be exposed to possible areas where mosquitoes live, like under working table.

Dengue mosquitoes are very domesticated, they like living indoors, usually on dark areas of the house like under the furnitures, inside cabinets and trash cans.

They may breed on vases, cans, buckets, drums, tires, roof gutters, plastic containers and the likes. So inspect your surrounding for possibly breeding sites and clean up.

Relationship Marketing

Relationship marketing has been a popular world in business for some time now because it still remains to be the most effective method to achieving profitability. It is believed that 80% of your profit comes from the 20% repeat costumers or referrals of satisfied customers and the remaining 20% of your profit comes from 80% new customers. One way to building a relationship with your clients is by having some form of loyalty program like what credit card companies have. Like if you are a Visa holder, then your card becomes a Visa reward card wherein each time you use it, it gives you points that when accumulated overtime maybe redeemed for some cash or items exchange.

Emily Bear – a 6 y.o. awesome pianist

No Gravatar

Did you try studying the piano when you were little and stopped along the way? I’m one of those lol…Saw this little girl on youtube and she’s just so amazing, Emily Bear is said to probably be the next Mozart.

It’s very important to have a mentor that will bring out the best in you. If you are passionate about something, get a mentor.

A most valuable player or a successful athlete always had a coach or mentor, like Tiger Woods was taught by his father or a karate expert by a drunken master. Emily was taught by a great piano teacher and supported her passion by her family. If you have a child showing some extra-ordinary talent, it would be great to support him or her and let them go places.

If you want to succeed in this life, we have a mentor waiting to be approached, the Creator of life himself. He gave us a manual, the Word of God.

No Gravatar

I was just talking about a school zone with street signs with incorrect spelling in the US and a Philippine telecom giant Globe, now I see the same thing in our very own country, the Philippine’s official website, Gov.ph a Title on a post that spelled “meeting” into “meetig”… I see no contact link, so I put it in my website hoping it will the right person’s attention-the one who wrote the post in particular. Please check the spellings carefully, this is our very own Country’s Official Website, give it the respect and time it deserves.

Philippines Official Gazette - meeting wrong spelling

Philippines Official Gazette - meeting wrong spelling

I hope to see it corrected, I already made a comment on the Facebook account of Pres. Aquino.

We will know  how responsive our current administration on their online campaign are, if they truly check on our messages or just put the account there for the sake of putting one. I am optimistic they are sincere. We trust but we also validate.  God bless our leaders and our nation.

E.Coli Super Bug spreading

No Gravatar

The news about the E.Coli bacteria is very alarming. It  was reported to be affecting Ottawa, Canada, in the U.S and now spreading to South East Asia

I saw a video that mentions E.Coli…try watching this and see if there maybe a link. Alex Jones talks about Aspartame, being a fecal matter of the E. Coli bacteria, and Aspartame is an ingredient in a lot,as in a lot of our food today. Yes, food that you and I can find in our grocery stores. Was surprised to see it on a gum that my dentist recommends because of Xylitol, but when I made a close look at it, it has Aspartame.

Please read the labels and ingredients on items you buy very carefully.

Globe Telecom’s wrong spelling – Temprorily on its YM Mobile Message

No Gravatar
I open Yahoo and on the headline are issues on embarrasing street sign on pavements in some school areas in the United States… because instead of putting “School” it is shows “Shcool”  or Scohol. I guess people (+myself) are too busy to check on spelling this days…and Philippines is not an exception. Look at this message that I receive each time I get a YM failed sending alert from Globe Telecoms. Instead of  spelling “Temporarily” its “Temprorily”… I mean, this is Globe Telecommunications, one of the biggest companies in the Philippines and probably are paying their people well, but can’t give enough time to check the spelling!
Globe Yahoo Messenger Message Wrong Spelling ="Temprorily"

Globe YM Please try again later

Could it be that the person who set-up this messaging system  doesn’t use Globe’s YM Messenger service for him or herself which is why he didn’t notice his wrong spelling…I don’t wonder if he doesnt….see below…Globe’s YM doesn’t seem to work alright…Coz i always get this failed sending messages quite often enough.

Globe YM 2258

Globe…I hope you can check on this…before Yahoo Philippines feature your spelling on its headlines :-)

The saying that “Nothing great was ever created without focus” is true. This reminds me of the line “too many mind” in the movie The Last Samurai starred by Tom Cruise.” Too many mind” was said by the  Tom Cruise’s sparring opponent, telling him he (Tom) has too much in his mind going on, not able to concentrate enough to win a fight.

How to go from Manila to El Nido

No Gravatar
How to go from Manila to El Nido
There are several ways to go from Manila to El Nido
El Nido Small Lagoon

El Nido Small Lagoon

1. Direct Flight.
There is a local carrier that flights from Manila to El Nido such as SEA Air – Southeast Asian Arlines and ITI – Island Transvoyager.

ITI Island Transvoyager El Nido

ITI Ten Knots Airport in El Nido

ITI Ten Knots Airport in El Nido

If you are arriving from Abroad, first book a flight that will bring you to Manila. We have Philippine Airlines as a national carrier and has its own airport called Centennial also called NAIA 2 or Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2.
Another Airport is the NAIA 1 or the old Manila International Airport where all other cariers land like Cathay Pacific, Northwest Airlines, Delta Air, Singapore Airlines, Qantas Air, Qatar Air and the likes.
Sea Air and ITI has 2 different airports. Sea Air is using the Old Domestic Airport while ITI has its own private Airport lounge. So take note of this things in booking your flights especially if it’s connecting.
The domestic airport is 10-30 minutes away from the International Airports depending on traffic.
Airfare is about P 6,700 per person on both Sea Air and ITI. Travel time is 60 minutes. Both land on the same airport in El Nido owned by Ten Knots.
2. Via Puerto Princesa- There are several airlines serving Manila to Puerto Princesa such as Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air, Zest Air and maybe more. It’s a 1 hr and 15 minutes flight.
Puerto Princesa is the capital of Palawan and is 5 hours away by car/van to El Nido.
Airfare can be somewhere P1,500 to P3,000 one way depending on how early you book.
I highly recommend you to stay in a resort/inn or hotel in Puerto Princesa and visit Honda Bay and the Underground River before you proceed to El Nido. This is what we did, we flew to Puerto Princesa and stayed 2 nights to and travelled to El Nido and flew out from there back to Manila.
You can rent a private Van from Puerto Princesa to El Nido, cost is somewhere from P 8,000 to P12,000 depending on how newer the van you would like.
You can also take a shared Van via the Terminal in San Jose or maybe ask from the booths at the airport of they have a shared van waiting to be filled. It is usually P 600-700 per person, and you will be riding with 10 -12 other people on it.
The road is more than half way cemeneter and the rest (towards El Nido) is rough. Be reminded that there are no banks in El Nido so make sure you have enough cash for the activities you will do, food and accomodations.
3. Via Boat from Coron or another part of Palawan offering this. I have not personally tried this, but they say its about P 2,500 per person on an 8 hrs boat ride from Coron to El Nido.
4. Via Safari Adventures. There are groups offering Yacht or Banka Safari Boats travelling from different islands in the Philippines and makes a stop in El Nido.
